Traditional Recycling — Paper, Clothes, Plastic
Another green effort of Kreider Services is the traditional recycling program, which includes collection and processing of paper, plastic and clothes. This program was developed through an initial grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and is sustained through a direct relationship with area businesses and organizations. Kreider Services works directly with Jack Mabley Developmental Center in collecting clothes, paper and plastic products.
- Kreider Services recycles office paper.
- Plastic shrink wrap will be accepted as along as it is clean and free of oil, water and dirt.
- Kreider Services does not accept newspapers.
- Old clothing, shoes, pursues and belts are accepted for recycling as long as those items are not rotting, wet, heavily soiled or mildewed.
- Kreider Services does not accept plastic soda, milk or any bottle item that contained a food product, oil or any hazardous material.
The benefits of recycling are obvious for the environment. Not so obvious are the benefits of recycling in our community for people with disabilities. The revenue generated from recycling and warehouse contracts is used to support services for people with disabilities at Kreider Services. The contracts also create work opportunities for a wide range of people with different levels of ability at Kreider Services.
