Group Meetings
Day:
Time:
The community Autism Group holds its meetings at Kreider Services although it is not a Kreider sponsored group many of our family members attend. The purpose of the Autism Group is to provide support and information to family and friends of those with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The Autism Group is coordinated by Kim Zera, a mom of a son with Autism. Speakers are often booked and present helpful information to the group. Many speakers share their own unique stories and adventures. For example a local high school teenager with an Autism Spectrum Disorder joined the group for a few meetings to explain his feelings, changes, and adjustments that those on the spectrum live through. He recently graduated high school and will be attending college in the fall. His sense of humor and willingness to speak at the group meetings left many family with such hope and good feelings.
The Autism Group often talks about everyday living, problem solving, and sharing resources. Members of the group give each other support when their loved ones experience the ups and downs of these disorders. Anyone is welcome to this once a month meeting on Thursday evening at 6–7:30 p.m. Childcare is available with pre–registration.
For additional information about the Autism Group please contact Kim Zera by email or by phone at (815) 440–7590.
